His Royal Highness happy with hi-tech holographic portrait

Project

The Duke of Kent has sat for many portraits but this sitting was something different.

A holographic photograph was taken of the royal visitor during his visit to View Holographics at OpTIC Technium in North Wales on their new holoshot portrait camera.

The Duke spent 90 minutes touring the Technium which has helped drive growth of the opto-electronics cluster in the St Asaph area.

Dave Rimmer, Managing Director of Optropreneurs, the company that runs OpTIC, said: “The Duke toured the building, meeting some of the companies based here and seeing the activities in the Technium’s Technology Centre. He was surprised and delighted by the levels of technology.”

View Holographics is developing ground breaking technologies for use in a range of display holograms and consumer products. The company’s Simon Cotton invited the Duke to sit for a holographic photograph.

The holoshot camera is available for creating 3d, animated holographic images for a wide variety of uses from family portraits to action shots of sporting heroes and other applications bound only by one’s imagination.
